Dr Sujata Gupta is a GMC registered and RCOG accredited Consultant Gynaecologist with over 15 years of experience. She trained in the Northwest Deanery until her appointment as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Royal Preston Hospital. During her training, she also undertook advanced training in minimal access surgery (laparoscopic surgery) in Gynaecology. For this, she was awarded an MSc with merit from the University of Surrey. She looks after women with all aspects of benign Gynaecology.
She is experienced in managing period related problems, pelvic pain, endometriosis, cervical smear abnormalities and genito-urinary prolapse. She leads the Endometriosis centre at Royal Preston Hospital with is a British Society of Gynaecology Endoscopy accredited centre. She also leads the specialist clinic for Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology. Most of her surgery is through minimal access approach, which allows women to recover much quicker. She has expertise in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgical techniques and is an Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology recognised trainer for Advanced Training in benign Gynaecology.
She is frequently invited as a speaker to events for colleagues and students on various women's health issues. She has published papers on endometriosis in peer reviewed journals. She has several national and international presentations on endometriosis.
Dr Sujata Gupta qualified as a medical graduate from Calcutta University, India in 1998.
She subsequently gained post graduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology and obtained an M.D. degree for study of gynaecological problems amongst teenage girls.
After which she completed obstetrics and gynaecology specialist training under the North West Deanery and obtained CCT in 2011. She then undertook specialist training in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
She was appointed Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2011.
